The University of South Alabama Medical Center is a regional referral center for south Alabama, southern Mississippi and the panhandle of Florida. It is also the areas’ only level I trauma center. The University of South Alabama Medical Center is managed by the USA HealthCare Management, LLC.
Essential Functions:
Utilizes the nursing process to assess patients, plan individualized care, identify expected outcomes, and implement and evaluate nursing interventions for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients; performs therapeutic and/or diagnostic procedures as ordered; administers medications including controlled substances by all routes; starts IVs; performs activities of daily living; administers blood and blood products; utilizes proper body mechanics when moving, positioning, and transferring patients and when moving equipment necessary to perform essential functions; utilizes a PC or terminal to access the Hospital Information System; demonstrates CPR according to American Heart Association standards; adheres to Hospital Policies and to current Infection Control and Safety standards; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families and health care team in person and via the telephone; responds to overhead pages; maintains accurate and complete medical records; serves as preceptor for new employees and nursing students; performs basic EKG interpretation, homodynamic monitor set-up, maintenance, monitoring and use inclusive of arterial lines, flow directed catheters, and ICP lines; performs proper immobilization/maintenance of spinal injuries; initiates and titrates medications; manages patients being mechanically ventilated; debrides wounds; serves as charge nurse when assigned; a ccesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime and call as required; related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing meeting the minimum standards set by the state of Alabama and licensure with the state of Alabama as a registered nurse.
Working Days and Hours:
Rotating Days 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.
