Overview:

Position Summary:
The Clinical Lab Technician III, under the direct supervision of the Quality Manager, functions as an unlicensed or licensed staff member in a licensed clinical laboratory performing duties approved by California business code 1269, CLIA, and other regulatory agencies. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting the Quality Manager with quality functions for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine with the following functions:

  • Ensure that the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (PLM) is operating in compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies
  • Interpret and implement new and revised regulations, standards, and guidelines
  • Manage the overall nonconforming/deviation management program including investigation, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and documentation
  • Identify, track, and assess key indicators of quality
  • Identify and act on opportunities for quality improvement
  • Manage projects for quality related functions
  • Serve as the primary liaison within the Hospital for quality-related issues, and with all external regulatory and accrediting agencies
  • Maintain and renew all licenses, registrations, and certifications required for the Department
  • Facilitate monthly PLM safety meetings to address any safety incidents and issues
  • Coordinate semi-annual pipette calibration
  • Setup MediaLab, iPassport, and iSensix accounts for new hires


Minimum Qualifications:
3+ years' experience in a large laboratory or academic institution with experience in assisting with quality related functions. Experience in medical terminology sufficient to understand and discuss technical aspects of pathology and laboratory medicine.

Education/Licensure/Certifications: High school graduate. AA/BS degree preferred. Quality related certification preferred.


Pay Scale Information: USD $44,304.00 - USD $76,544.00

Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
