Human Resources Generalist [United States]


 

POSITION PURPOSE:


The HR Generalist will deliver value-added HR service to management and employees of the Company and acts as the first point of contact for HR related concerns. The HR Generalist will manage the daily functions of the HR department including hiring and interviewing non-exempt candidates. The HR Generalist will process payroll, manage benefits, leave, and enforce company policies and practices.

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of job applicants for open positions; collaborates with hiring managers to understand the skills and competencies required for the open positions.
  • Responds to employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the Director of People Operations.
  • Process background and drug screening.
  • Schedule and conduct new hire onboarding and orientation.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll through Paylocity
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters, disputes, and investigations; recognition, and morale.
  • Assist with monthly and annual Employee Engagement activities.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • All other duties and tasks requested.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:


  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensations practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks and projects, giving attention to detail.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and understanding of the customer service role of the HR department.
  • Ability to influence others in a positive manner and able to work through challenges and adversity.
  • Ability to work with a variety of people and employee levels from entry level hourly to senior management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Teams and Zoom.
  • Familiar with Paylocity or other HRIS platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and to anticipate work needs and interact professionally.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS / PRIOR EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business degree in a related field preferred.
  • At least 5 years of previous HR Generalist experience required.
  • Working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines, including recruiting, compensation practices, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state employment laws.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
