Demand Planner [Malaysia]


 

The Role

Job Purpose:

The Demand Planner role is the focal point for the creation and maintenance of the short and medium term demand plan for the lubricants business. The Role holder needs to be able to bring together information from statistical modeling tools and inputs from sales, marketing and finance to form a realistic and aligned future plan. The accuracy of the demand plan is key as it drives supply planning activities and the more accurate the demand plan, the more efficient our supply chain.

Reporting to Lubricants Supply Chain, the Demand Planner is also and integral and trusted member within the Sales and Marketing team and will be involved in key meetings, workshops and growth initiatives (up to GM level) that will impact demand in some way or require demand inputs.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Maintain statistical models to generate the most accurate baseline forecasts
  • Collect, validate and input Step 1 (new activity) and Step 2 inputs from Sales and Marketing to the planning process (forecast or events)
  • Run forecast alignment meeting with Country Sales and Marketing managers (step 2 sign-off) prior to forecast hand-off to LSC
  • Participate in Step 3 and support information requirements for Step 4 as needed.
  • Monitor and report on current month orders vs forecast and drive sales and marketing towards more accurately “selling the plan”
  • Collect Short Term Forecast changes from Sales and Marketing and manage STA process with Supply Planning*
  • Act as key focal point between Demand (sales and mkting) and Supply teams and ensure efficient communication between all teams
  • Support finance teams to regularly update “Latest Estimate” and highlight potential gaps to annual and quarterly plans
  • Participate in yearly IBP process to build more detailed plans for successive years

The APAC region has been showing high growth over the last few years (excluding COVID affected months) largely due to winning new business from our competitors. This creates a challenge to creating an accurate forecast as statistical models based on history cannot forecast these business wins and the related portfolio changes. It is important to the Demand Planner to form strong relationships with Sales and Marketing teams to ensure timely and accurate inputs to build on the statistical baseline forecast.

Requirement:

-Min 5- 8 years experience

  • Any Degree Equivalent
  • Familiar with SAP and APO
