You will review the records of those individuals on the Temporary Disability Retirement List (TDRL) who have been directed to undergo a periodic physical examination. The MEB provider shall review medical records and examine soldiers being referred for Fitness for Duty (FFD) and Active Duty Medical Extension (ADME) evaluations.

Responsibilities:
Serves as physician in the Medical Evaluation Board Clinic, responsible for the examination and diagnosis of patients seen in the clinic for purposes of completing the Medical Evaluation Board process. Many patients have multiple interacting acute and chronic medical problems such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, arthritis, mental illness, orthopedic related injuries, and cancer. In an outpatient clinic performs a wide range of medical duties covering diagnosis and disability processing/determination. Carefully reviews medic! al records, examines patients, orders and reviews consultation! s, and evaluates the full range of radiology and laboratory tests, makes diagnoses, and dictates the Medical Evaluation Board Narrative Summary in accordance with Army Regulations, for reporting to the Physical Evaluation Board. Refers to appropriate primary care or specialty clinics when required for evaluation and/or treatment. The MEB physician shall review available medical records of military personnel for possible disability processing, and assess the condition of the service member by completing a physical examination. The MEB physician will determine whether the soldier falls below retention standards, or whether further evaluation or treatment is likely to result in meeting retention standards. If the MEB physician determines that the soldier requires further evaluation or treatment, the MEB physician will either order the appropriate tests or refer the soldier to the appropriate specialist. These specialty consultations will be given priority status and the physic! ian consultant will provide a dictated report. If and when it is determined that further treatment is unlikely to return a soldier to full duty, the MEB physician shall proceed with disability processing and dictate a Medical Evaluation Board Narrative Summary. The MEB physician shall review the records of those individuals on the Temporary Disability Retirement List (TDRL) who have been directed to undergo a periodic physical examination. The MEB physician shall order any necessary diagnostic studies and consultations, and dictate a narrative summary to include all previous diagnoses and additional diagnoses since being placed on the TDRL. If examination and assessment of the individual on TDRL is beyond the expertise of the MEB physician, the MEB physician shall determine which specialist has the appropriate expertise and will refer the individual for specialty evaluation. The MEB provider shall review medical records and examine soldiers being referred for Fitness for Du! ty (FFD) and Active Duty Medical Extension (ADME) evaluations. The MEB ! physician shall determine whether the soldier falls below retention standards, or whether further evaluation or treatment is likely to result in meeting retention standards. If the soldier requires further evaluation and treatment, the MEB physician will order the appropriate tests or refer to the appropriate specialist. If and when it is determined that further treatment is unlikely to return a soldier to full duty, the MEB physician shall proceed with disability processing and dictate a Medical Evaluation Board Narrative Summary. The MEB provider will determine and combine permanent physical profiles appropriate for disability processing. The MEB physician shall consult with and advise referring physicians if necessary on the diagnosis and treatment of patients, and serve as a point of contact on the Medical Evaluation Board process and profiling issues

Qualifications:
Be a US Citizen. Must possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a sc! hool in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant's graduation or a Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States that is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country). Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an institution accredited for such training. Graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are! approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or ! Canada. Listings of accredited programs are published yearly in the Directory of Residency Training Programs and the Yearbook and Directory of Osteopathic Physicians. The internship program must have involved broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics). Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training by a recognized body of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). Licensure: Must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
