Description: UAB Health System is looking of RESPIRATORY THERAPIST - Regional Newborn ICU #870 right now, this position will be depute in Alabama. This classification is responsible for administering respiratory therapy treatments including oxygen, gas, humidity and pharmacologica! l therapies to patients in critical and non-critical care units. Performs blood gas and pulmonary function analyses; sets up ventilators and CPAP devices and determines proper settings; and evaluates patients’ responses to therapy. Attends department meetings, in-services, and other required meetings as directed. Maintains compliance with the departmental competency and validation program, including compliance with the continuing education policy.
Acquires and maintains intubation certification and performs this skill when needed. Responds to the unique needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients as the need arises. Performs various other duties upon request. Minimum Qualifications This classification requires high school or equivalent; Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy is required.
Must have passed the Registry Exam for Respiratory Therapist. Must provide respiratory care following standard practice guidelines.
